'Affordable renovations: subsidies and cheaper loans' - You can spread your renovation costs with ‘Mijn VerbouwPremie’ (renovation grants/subsidies), provided by the Flemish government. This grant serves as a post-renovation “reward”, after the works have been executed. With their initiative ‘Mijn VerbouwLening’ (renovation loan), you can borrow a (limited) renovation budget at a much cheaper rate, to be used pre-renovation.

During this information session, you will learn all about the various options and how you can use them.

About the speakers

Johan Eyben (speaker for starting with renovations) holds a bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Recreation Management. After a short experience in the tourism sector and a few years in retail (Brico and later IKEA, where he guided customers in designing their kitchens), he transitioned to the housing and renovation field.

For nearly 13 years, Johan worked at IGO, a regional public service near Leuven, where he advised residents on housing questions, managed renovation grants and energy loans, coordinated housing projects, and trained as a renovation coach.

Since October 2023, Johan works for the City of Leuven as a renovation coach for private homeowners, a role he truly enjoys. He is also a certified Energy Expert Type A, authorized to issue energy performance certificates for residential properties and small non-residential buildings.

Jasmien Jossart (speaker for affordable renovations) first earned a bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Arts in Ghent, and later graduated as a socio-cultural worker at the UCLL. She held various roles in this field, where she worked closely with people, which was always her greatest motivation.

Today, she combines this passion with her personal interest in nature and the environment. Since 2022, she has been working as an energy consultant for the City of Leuven, where she supports residents with all their questions about energy and renovation.
