A Final Tip: Turn the Subtitles On
Many Dutch learners worry when they don't understand every word. Don't. Sometimes Flemings don't understand every word either.
Flanders may be small, but accents can vary enormously between Antwerp, Limburg, West Flanders, East Flanders and Flemish Brabant. Watching television exposes you to these differences in a way that language courses simply can't.
So put on the subtitles, grab a cup of coffee (or something stronger), and enjoy some Flemish television. You won't just learn Dutch, you'll learn how Dutch is actually spoken in Belgium.
And who knows? After a few episodes, you might even stop needing those subtitles. Most of the time.
