Bite of Dutch - Broodje Vlaams

After two very successful editions, we are launching another 6 months of Bite of Dutch - Broodje Vlaams! We will be meeting online with our language coach, Sofie, every other week until summer.

How will it work?

We will host these online sessions over your lunch break with a language teacher that specializes in spoken Flemish. This is a great opportunity to get some extra insight on top of your regular language classes. The most reoccurring comment from the first edition was that these lunch session covered new and interesting topics that you wouldn't learn in the classroom! Please note that we will focus on informal spoken Flemish, and will not often practice formal writing or speaking.

You will have the chance, upon registration, to make note of any specific topics you would like to cover (for example giving a presentation, pleasantries etc.)

We will not have a wait list for this edition and the sessions will welcome participants from all levels (A2 and higher).

When & Where

The sessions will be held every other Tuesday from 12:00-13:00, online via Zoom. They will take place on the following days:

  • March 25: How to say hi and bye like a native speaker and have small talk with your colleagues
  • April 1: Humor in Dutch (since it’s on the 1st of April 😉)
  • April 22: Talking about emotions in Dutch
  • May 6: Talking about the language learning experience, language barriers, …
  • May 20: Telling stories
  • June 3: Talking about important places in your life
  • June 17: Talking about your plans for the summer

Testimonials from the first edition

Really loved the session; it's informal without homework but offers a structured way to gain new insights and practice more.
I find this to be a very useful initiative for foreigners who are trying to speak more like a native and want to engage in a meaningful conversation.
The experience was very interesting and I enjoyed learning new terms and listening to other foreigners speaking.
Nice to meet other people who also want to learn the local language!! It was fantastic!!
Really like the format and think this is very much missing from the local language offer in Leuven.
