Monthly 30CC Recommendations for Internationals

Every month our colleagues at 30CC send us their recommendations for the coming month. See below what they are most looking forward to with an emphasis on events that are in English, aren't language specific, or have an easy level of Dutch.

Leuven beKOORt 2024

When & Were: Sunday, September 22 - 50 choirs - 22 locations

Fancy a singing Sunday? Welcome to Leuven beKOORt!

Sing, listen, watch, experience and stroll during the second edition of Leuven beKOORt.
We join forces with KOORUWEL again for a city full of choral sounds.

50 choirs will perform on 22 stages on one Sunday afternoon. They come from Leuven, Brabant, Flanders, Wallonia and the Netherlands. Between 1:30 pm and 5 pm, each choir will sing two 30-minute concerts on two different stages in the city centre. The stages are located within walking distance, between the ‘boarding stations’ town hall, Olevodroom and Damiaanplein.

As a closing event, all the choirs will gather on the Grote Markt at 5:30 pm. Together, they will sing a new composition written for Leuven beKOORt by Pieter Nevejans, the conductor of Kooruwel.

You can attend these 100 concerts free of charge. As a visitor, you can choose from very diverse styles and sounds: from Gregorian chant and classical over world music to pop and rock. Also discover surprising venues, inside and outside, in the Leuven city centre. Relaxing with a drink and eating a bite is also part of this polyphonic day!

Every two years, Leuven beKOORt opens the cultural season of 30CC.
The choir festival is thus a new tradition and is already planning its third edition in September 2026.

PS they are also looking for volunteers!

We are still looking for enthusiastic volunteers (basic Dutch needed, a great opportunity to practice) to make Leuven beKOORt a blissful singing Sunday.
