Workshop: Finding your home away from home in Leuven
About the event
This workshop is for anyone who has recently arrived in Belgium and is looking for some extra support (whether that be community support or the practical things, we will cover it all!). We know that when families (with or without kids) move to Belgium, it can be difficult for everyone to get settled in. However, we often see that the working partner will get settled at work and the kids at school, but the "trailing partner" can be left to find their path alone.
With this workshop, we want to let you know that you aren't alone! Not only are there other partners in a similar situation, but the International House Leuven is here to support you in finding answers to difficult questions as well as getting plugged in to a community and find work!
Have you already been in Belgium for a while, but still feel like the content of the workshop could be useful? Then you are of course welcome to join!
Content of the workshop:
- A 30-minute humorous presentation “living in Belgium” in which you will learn seldom known facts, Belgian curiosities, social protocols, the differences between Flemish and Walloons…
- A 30-minute workshop dedicated to the accompanying partners; how to face new challenges, since they are a key piece in the success or failure of the expatriation, and they are the ones who have likely made the most sacrifices, and therefore may need more support.
- A 40-minute interactive Q&A session where we answer all your questions: tenants' rights, refund of the deposit, insurance, nannies, working in Belgium, volunteering, activities, affinity groups, language classes…
- After the workshop, you can join the group for lunch at Cafe Sport just down the road. This way we can keep the discussion going for anyone that would like to join!
