An overview
There are lots of before and after school programs available in Leuven.
All schools offer before- and after-school care, but they vary in opening hours, staff, etc. The best way to find information on this is by inquiring with your child's school.
Various organizations run the after school programs, some are inside the school buildings and others outside. You can get an overview of all the possibilities on the kinderopvang website.
Another provider is the city of Leuven which organizes KinderKuren in local schools. Your school can provide more info about this organization or visit their website (in Dutch) here.
Alternatively, Cokido offers a way for (grand)parents to self-organize and share childcare outside of school hours - check out our article here for more information about this.
Other information
- There is a tax deduction per day per child for childcare. You will receive the fiscal statement annually from your childcare facility.
- One of the biggest advantages of letting your child go to before and after school care is immersion. Children will be immersed in the local language (Dutch) and culture.
